U16 & U18 Update’s (18 September)

Latest Update - 18 September

Given the announcement ruling out the possibility of games this weekend, there will be no extra games for under 16 teams this year.   This is an unfortunate ending and the Auckland Water Polo are saddened that the competition / extra games, has come to a somewhat fizzled ending.

With the Under 18s, because Nationals is 3rd October – 6th October there is still a possibility that we “could” play the weekend 26th / 27th, if we move to level 2.   Cross all your fingers and toes that this will be an option!

Our apologies to everyone that this hasn’t been the competition we are used to.

Best of Luck to all Under 16 teams and Under 18 teams travelling to Nationals.

Latest Update - 06 September

Hi All.

Further to our email earlier this week, advising Auckland Water Polo games have been cancelled this coming weekend and after today’s update from the Prime Minister, AWP would like to advise that there will also be no AWP competition games played on the 12th and 13th of September.

With todays decision, AWP no longer has enough time to complete the 2020 Under 16 and Under 18 leagues. It is our hope that the level 2.5 restrictions will be lifted in Auckland on Monday 14th September. This would then allow us to at least get everyone a AWP game the weekend 19th and 20th September.

Where possible this will be against a team that you have not already played in pool play.

We will be in touch again, once the Prime Minister has shared what will happen Monday 14th September.

Kindest regards, continue to be safe

AWP Committee.

Updated 01 September

Unfortunately Auckland Water Polo is unable to play any of its U16 or U18 games this coming weekend due to the NZ Government restriction of 10 people gatherings.

We totally understand that this is very disappointing for the children, parents and clubs, but there is no way around it at this stage. Can you please advise your team managers and players at your earliest convenience.

We will keep you updated on rescheduling as soon as we are outside of level 2.5 or if the prime minister allows. Fingers crossed for better news soon.
