You don't have to carry it alone.
Pressure, anxiety and difficult moments can affect anyone. If you need support, there are people in our water polo community ready to help you find it.
Sport can bring confidence, connection and joy. It can also come with pressure, stress and expectations. Talking about how you're doing is part of looking after yourself.
You don't need to wait until things feel overwhelming before asking for support. A conversation with someone you trust can be a first step — a friend, family member, coach, GP or a mental health professional.
The Finn Lowery Foundation.
The Finn Lowery Foundation promotes and supports mental health and wellbeing for young people in the water polo community. It can help people access appropriate mental health and wellness resources and, where needed, connect them with healthcare professionals.
Support through the Foundation
Confidential. Practical. Connected.

A life that still makes a difference.
The Foundation was established in 2019 in memory of Finn Lowery — a North Harbour water polo player, New Zealand representative, lawyer, Rhodes Scholar, teammate, friend and much-loved member of the water polo community. The Foundation honours Finn by helping make mental health support easier to find and access for others in our game.
A stronger game is a community that notices.
Check in.
Ask people how they're really doing — and make space for the answer.
Listen.
You don't need to solve everything. Being present and listening can matter.
Help connect.
If someone needs more support, help them connect with a trusted adult, health professional or the Foundation.
Start with one conversation.
The Finn Lowery Foundation exists to support people in our water polo community and help connect them with appropriate care.
