Still got game.
Competitive water polo, old mates, new teammates and a weekend built for players who aren't finished with the game yet.
Auckland Masters returns on 3–4 October 2026. Team and individual registrations are open now, with venue and final competition details to follow.
A weekend of water polo built around good competition, a bit of history and the chance to catch up with people you've shared a pool with over the years.
Auckland Masters is an open-style event. Teams from Auckland and outside the region are welcome, with men's and women's grades and age-based categories or handicaps shaped around the entries received.
Keep the game in your life.
Compete.
Real games, proper scores and enough edge to make it feel worth getting back in the pool.
Reconnect.
Catch up with former teammates, opponents and people who've been part of the game for years.
Bring a team.
Club teams, old teams and groups from outside Auckland are all part of the event.
Enjoy it.
Masters should still feel like water polo — just with a bit more emphasis on the weekend around it.
Short games. Plenty of polo.
The exact format can change with team entries, but the previous Auckland Masters used the following structure.
Four quarters. Five minutes stop time.
The tournament has previously run men's and women's grades. Women may play in the men's grade where required.
Open style.
Age categories and competition structure are built around the teams that register. Teams from outside Auckland are welcome, and the aim is to create competitive, enjoyable match-ups across the weekend.
Age can count in your favour.
The previous format used the average age of each team to create a starting-score handicap. Future tournaments may adjust this depending on registrations, but this gives teams an idea of how the event has balanced different age groups.
Example: under the previous model, a 60+ team playing a 30+ team would begin with a 6–0 lead.
Bring a team. Or come on your own.
You can enter a full team, or register individually if you want to play but don't currently have a team organised.
The game still looks good.
3–4 October 2026.
Auckland Masters will be played across Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026. Final venue, draw, registration information and any social-event details will be added here once confirmed.
