Welcome to 2024, Water Polo Enthusiasts!

Annnnddd we’re back!

We hope you have enjoyed the summer. We all love water polo, but it is great to have a little break at the end of a busy year, to reset and refocus, to prep for things lying ahead.. and have we got a big year planned..

In case you hadn’t noticed, Fabian Wanrooij has been hired full time in November 2023 as AWP’s Community and Competitions Manager. Fabian brings along a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is eager to support the growth of the clubs and water polo within the Auckland region. AWP is excited to have him on board!

In the coming weeks we will be highlighting some of the new events on our calendar. With these events AWP aims to bring a wider variety and offer of water polo to the Auckland community, with added Referee, Coach and Player development opportunities. Some of these will be run by regional experts, but we will also be brining over some international experts, and we can’t wait to introduce you to them. Stay tuned.

Besides these new events however, we will still have our staple regional competitions in the Senior, u18, u16 and u14 grades. We will look to build and improve on the progress made in the past two years post-Covid, to be able to better deliver competitions for everyone in the Auckland region. Water polo should be a game for life, for everyone and we will do our best to make it so.

Lastly, Auckland Water Polo wants to thank Karen Rollo for her years of making and maintaining the league draws. Karen has put a lot of time and effort into ensuring all teams get opportunities to participate in the AWP competitions and we are very lucky to have been able to rely on her.

Cheers to 2023- here we come 2024!
