2026 AWP Referee Development

In 2025, WPNZ activated its renewed Referee Development Program which has replaced the Auckland WP workshops for C and B Graded referees. 

Auckland Water Polo will keep supporting Auckland based referees in attaining their practical assessments on a regular basis, throughout the AWP competitions and events. These assessments will be accessible to the referees themselves and can be used as reference with WPNZ. 

AWP will however still run Local-Referee Grade workshops once a term to support the new incoming referees. To attain the Local-Referee grade (and corresponding reimbursement rate, and be eligible to referee u14 league and up), an Auckland referee will still need to complete this AWP run workshop along with the WPNZ exam. A referee wanting to retain his or her Local-Referee Grade will need to re-up annually.
